Right of Way Consulting

Railroad Safety Is What We Do

Right of Way Consulting (ROWC) is the partner to call for Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) and railroad flagging services. We have the experience, the expertise, and the team to protect your people, your project, and the railroad. We have handled railroad flagging for more than 35 years, established in 1987, and we are still the leader today. The quality ROWC brings to the table is beyond reproach. Our team is responsible, professional, and ethical from the first day we work with you, and that raises the standard of everything we touch. Every member of our team is continuously tested and audited to keep our people at the highest caliber, and we adapt as safety standards evolve.

COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Safety Is Our Standard, Not Just A Slogan

Safety is of the utmost importance at ROWC. We provide the leadership, organization, training, and resources needed to reach our goal of being the safest flagging contractor in the United States. That goal rests on three commitments:

A Strong Safety Culture

Every employee is committed to their own safety, to looking out for one another, and to making safety a core value on every job.

A Safe Work Environment

Conducting every operation safely is the top priority, regardless of the nature, importance, or urgency of the job.

Safe Work Practices & Training

Our people have the tools and the training they need to work safely, backed by continual instruction and review.

HOW WE OPERATE

A Framework Behind Every Job

ROWC uses a wide range of processes and initiatives to keep the workplace safe, anchored by our Safety Management System: a formal framework for building safety into day-to-day railway operations. It applies to all employees and governs how we work with railroads, contractors, and other stakeholders while on railroad property.
ROWC complies with all applicable rules and regulations to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy workplace, and every employee is responsible for following company and railroad safety policies, rules, and procedures.

MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION

Field Support You Can Reach

Our management team stays in constant contact with our flagmen to provide field support, build close working relationships, and encourage positive reinforcement. We want our RWICs to know they can come to us with questions without fear of reprimand when it isn’t warranted. ROWC values our RWICs and puts a high priority on consistently mentoring, communicating, and assessing at-risk behaviors. When something goes wrong, is misunderstood, or an at-risk behavior is observed, we work to understand why so we can address it and learn from it as a team.

COMPLIANCE

An FRA-Approved Testing Program

ROWC maintains an FRA-approved Drug and Alcohol Testing Program that includes pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as random testing. The program complies with 49 CFR Part 219, which took effect June 12, 2017.
